I served as the Digital Marketing Officer for the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME), a population health research center based out of the University of Washington, from January 2020 to February 2022. I was responsible for IHME’s brand social media and led weekly campaigns promoting various population health research studies published in leading global health journals like The Lancet, BMJ, Nature, and The New England Journal of Medicine.

We were known for our Population in 2100 study and the annual Global Burden of Disease study. IHME rose to greater public prominence when they were alongside the Imperial College with one of the first COVID-19 models that was quickly incorporated into the CDC’s research. IHME Director Chris Murray and other institute executives held a near-weekly presence on major media talk shows such as NBC, NPR, BBC, Al Jazeera, Fox, and CBS. They appeared extensively on Anderson Cooper and Don Lemon’s CNN broadcast television programs in segments that averaged 10-minutes.

The executive thought leadership blog I created for IHME’s COVID-19 modeling team became the station’s most-visited website and garnered an average time on screen of over 6-minutes. The blog is still extensively referenced in major news media publications.
